Mainly involved with First aid & related training & providing voluntary services during disasters & various public events.
We train average 15,000 – 20,000 First aiders per year majority of them are School students. St John National Headquarters is in 65/11, Chittampalam A Gardiner Mawatha , Colombo 02 & we have our District teams operating in 25 Districts under the leadership of District Commissioners.
We operate from local funds generated through our training programs & we are providing quality training & true voluntary services all over the country since 1906.

EMERGENCY CARE ASSISTANT – Syllabus
AIM: Providing mainly practical based knowledge & basic skills needed to provide emergency care as an Ambulance assistant.
Basic theory
1. Air way & Oxygen therapy 2. Circulation, Bleeding & Shock 3. Spinal Injuries + Coma + Diabetes Mellitus 4. Emergency care Ethics ( Basics )
Basic practical skills 1. Pulse oximeter, Face Mask , AMBU, & Basic Oxygen therapy 2. CRT , Blood Pressure, Glucometer , Thermometer 3. Folding Stretcher & SCOOP 4. Basic handling of Spinal injury 5. Loading & unloading from an Ambulance 6. Nebulization with portable nebulizer 7. Emergency Suction
Sinhala Medium Eligibility: 1. Age 19 years or more 2. Holding a valid standard first aid certificate
Duration : Course 01 day – 06 hours Theory & Practical
